Isn't it great, when sometimes you see a written passage and it just jumps out at you?
That is how I feel about some of these dog quotations, they just seem to fit for that right moment of time, either for you, a friend or family member.

DOG STORIES:
Mrs. Patrick Campbell was one of the most well-known actresses of the late Victorian and Edwardian eras, famous for her talents onstage and her wit off. Once, when leaving for a tour of North American, Mrs. Campbell attempted to smuggle her beloved Pekingese through customs by tucking it inside the upper part of her cape. "Everything was going splendidly," she recalled, "until my bosom barked."

Sir Winston Churchill owned a poodle named Rufus, who was an honored member of the prime minister's family. Each night a dinner time, a special cloth was laid out for the dog on the Persian carpet beside Churchill's chair, and no one else would be served until Rufus had his meal.

A black Newfoundland, Scannon, traveled with the Lewis and Clark expedition through the Louisana Territory. On one occassion, according to Lewis's journal, Scannon saved the lives of three of the explorers by deflecting the charge of a rampaging buffalo. When the dog was later kidnapped by Indians, Lewis sent a search party to find the dog and kill its abductors. The dog was found abandoned by the Indians and rejoined the expedition unharmed.

Revolutionary French philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau had a pet dog named Duke. In his autobiograph, 'Confessions, Rousseau wrote that his dog "was no beauty, but he certainly deserved the name (Duke) better than those who had assumed it."
